Look Good Feel Better Ireland has put smiles on the faces of over 10,000 Irish women receiving cancer treatment

Update - Book your workshop below

Covid-19 may have temporarily forced us to suspend our unique confidence-boosting workshops but, sadly, cancer doesn’t stop. One person in Ireland gets diagnosed with cancer every three minutes.

Look Good Feel Better's free skincare and make-up workshops bring smiles to the faces of women undergoing cancer treatment and we don't want this to stop.

An Irish charity using the power of make-up to change lives

Finding out you have cancer can be daunting and life-changing. The added stress of the appearance related side effects of treatment can be demoralising and very hard to cope with.

This can have a serious effect on self-esteem and confidence, at a time when a positive attitude is very important. Cancer can rob a woman of her energy and strength, but with the support of Look Good Feel Better it need not take away her self-confidence.

We use the power of make-up to help rebuild self-confidence and self-esteem for women who have gone through cancer treatment. These amazing women attend workshops all over Ireland, run by a dedicated team of volunteer make-up artists.

The 2018/2019 Global Participant Survey collected data from more than 26,000 program participants served by Look Good Feel Better in 16 countries across five continents. This research shows:

  • 92% of respondents reported feeling very/somewhat confident in their appearance following their LGFB workshop experience, compared to 50% before attending a workshop – a 42% increase.

  • 95% of respondents appreciated what they learned, and 96% found value in the program to improve self-image.

  • 97% of respondents found support through the LGFB experience.

  • 98% of respondents would recommend Look Good Feel Better to other women with cancer.

Throughout Covid we have continued to reach out to people when they most need it

  • From 2018 to date, Look Good Feel Better worked with between 660 and 1032 women a year going through cancer treatment.

  • 10,000 women have been supported by Look Good Feel Better in Ireland

  • 200 hardworking volunteers support Look Good Feel Better Ireland delivery skincare and make up workshops

Our vision

That the Look Good Feel Better programme be an integral part of cancer care in Ireland supporting people with cancer.

Our mission

To help improve the well-being and confidence of people undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. We do this by providing free Look Good Feel Better workshops and advice, to help manage the visible side-effects caused by cancer and its treatment.

"After the Look Good Feel Better workshop I felt like I looked normal, I didn’t look sick, and that’s all you want under the circumstances. I felt like a million dollars after the workshop! Now my make-up is constantly admired as I know what I’m doing when applying cosmetics...My children loved seeing their mammy looking herself and happy. It brought some cheer into the house, knowing I was feeling fantastic rather than feeling miserable”

Sheila, Workshop Participant , Cork

"Volunteering for the Look Good Feel Better Programme, was one of the most worthwhile and fulfilling things that I have done in my life. Being able to make a patient's life that little bit easier and happy, was such a joy. On a personal level it also helped to put my problems in perspective and make me realise how lucky I was to be healthy and happy. I would definitely recommend volunteering to any beauty professional”
